All Parents and Guardians

Long Leave: Long Leave will commence at 4.15pm this Friday, 15th February, and the spring term will recommence on Monday 25th February at 8.00am. School transport services will be running as normal on both of these dates.

Transport: Students using school transport are reminded that buses and taxis will leave at 5.00pm this Friday, 15th February. Transport services will resume on Monday 25th February. If you would like to cancel or amend your child’s usage of the School’s transport service, for the summer term, please contact transport@leightonpark.com before the end of Long Leave. A half term of notice is required for changes to transport arrangements.

End of Term Reports and Grade Sheets – Reports for Years 7, 9 and Lower Sixth and Grade Sheets for Years 8, 10, 11 and Upper Sixth will be available after 12.00pm this Friday, 15th February. The reports can be accessed via the ParentPortal. If you have trouble accessing either the portal or the reports, please contact Elaine Storey, Data Manager.

Treasure Island Merchandise If you would like to purchase a Treasure Island DVD (£15) or photobook (£25) as a memento of last term’s whole school production, please do so by clicking here. Orders should be placed before Friday 15th February.

‘Time’ Photography Exhibition The Art Department invites all members of the community to take part in this year’s photography exhibition. This year’s theme is Time. Read more in the attached flyer and view the poster here. The deadline for submissions is Friday 15th March at 12.00pm. Please send all entries to Mark Wood, Head of Art.

Monday 25th February: Film Club - Film Club continues after Long Leave on Monday 25th February at 6.30pm in Fryer Cinema Room with Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Shape of Water’. Come and celebrate this year’s Oscars by watching last year’s winner. Year 10 to Upper Sixth are welcome to attend. For more information please see the poster here.

RSVP Monday 4th March – Friday 8th March: Book Week We are delighted to announce that we will be celebrating Book Week again this year. Please see the attached letter and poster for more information. Please complete the online form by Friday 1st March, detailing whether you give your consent for your child to purchase books from the Book Shop which will be held in the Cadbury Room. Tuesday 26th March: Official Opening of the Michael Malnick Centre We are delighted to announce the official opening of the Michael Malnick Centre will be on Tuesday 26th March. There will be a Gala Concert from 7.15pm in Main Hall to celebrate and tickets to attend the event will be free. Booking information will follow in the eBulletin after Long Leave. Please save the date for the event – we would love to see you there!

 


 

Year 7


RSVP Tuesday 5th March: Author Steve Cole – Fryers will have the opportunity to meet author Steve Cole, on Tuesday 5th March. Steve will be delivering a talk to Fryers during Book Week and students will have the chance to purchase some of his books. Please complete the online form by Friday 1st March, confirming whether you are happy for your child to purchase books at this event. If you have any queries please contact our Librarian, Chris Routh.

RSVP Friday 8th March: Year 7 Parents’ Consultation Evening – Parents and guardians are invited to the Year 7 Parents’ Consultation Evening on Friday 8th March from 6.00-8.30pm in Fryer House. Please read more information in the attached letter and book appointments with your child’s teachers by logging onto the ParentPortal. Instructions on how to do this are in the letter. Please make your bookings before the deadline on Thursday 7th March at 2.00pm and if you have any problems making bookings contact Christine Banham, Office Administrator.  If you have any queries about the event please contact Adrian Stewart, Head of Lower School.

RSVP Thursday 7th March: Psychology Trip to London –AS Level Psychology students are invited to course relevant exhibitions at the National History Museum and Science Museum in London. Details are in the attached letter. If your son/daughter would like to attend please complete the online form and submit payment of £28 as soon as possible. RSVP Tuesday 12th March – Tuesday 14th March: History and Politics Trip to Auschwitz – If your child is attending the History and Politics trip to Auschwitz, Poland, from 12th to 14th March, please see the attached letter which includes important information about the trip. Please complete the online form and submit payment of £80 by this Friday, 15th February. If you have any queries about the trip please contact Chris Tyer, History teacher.
 

RSVP Tuesday 2nd April: Africa Inspired Dinner – Participants in the October 2018 Africa trips to Tanzania and Uganda are invited with their parents/guardians to a simple vegetarian African meal in Oakview at 7.30pm on Tuesday 2nd April. There is no charge for this event. A memento book will be given out to each student and additional copies can be ordered for £10 each in advance. Further details are in the attached letter. To confirm your attendance and to order memento books please complete the online form by Monday 4th March. If you should have any queries please contact Christine Banham, Office Administrator.


 

Upper Sixth

Careers Newsletter

Monday 25th February - Friday 1st March: Upper Sixth Mock Examinations – Mock exams will take place during the week after Long Leave, Monday 25th February to Friday 1st March. All students have been sent the timetable for the week and it is important that they take careful note of the exact start time for each of their exams. You can view the timetable here. Students should assemble quietly in the foyer of Peckover Hall at least ten minutes before each exam is due to start, so that exams can start promptly. Please remind your child to bring the equipment required for their exam in a clear pencil case, or clear bag. They should also refer to the JCQ regulations in the attached document.
