Shiplake College - Weekly Bulletin

Dear Parents

Please see below this week's notices from the College.

Year 10 Parents’ Conference

A reminder that the Year 10 Parents’ Conference is on Friday 10 March (Sports Hall, 3.30pm - 6.00pm). We kindly request that all Year 10 parents visit www.shiplake.parentseveningsystem.co.uk where 7-minute appointments with individual teachers can be booked and schedules created very easily. We respectfully ask that all parents make appointments in this way as it will no longer be possible to see teachers without an appointment. Please note that you can view and edit your appointments at any time before 12.00pm on Friday 10 March.

Cyber-Bullying

As part of our on-going drive to educate all our pupils in E-safety, this week every year group has been shown an interview which took place on ITV’s This Morning programme last month. The interview is with the mother of a girl whose suicide was linked to cyber-bullying.

All pupils have been reminded of the school’s stance on the misuse of technology and the impact that often casual remarks on social media can have on young people.

You can view the interview here.

On Thursday 6 April, Shiplake College will be putting on a BTEC gig afternoon at the Henley Bandstand, Mill Meadows, Henley. The performance will start at 4.00pm and finish at 5.30pm, and will feature performances from both Year 12 and 13 BTEC classes, alongside supporting acts. The bands will perform a variety of Pop and Rock cover songs from a range of different decades, supported by Shiplake’s own Year 10 band Stranded, and the up-and-coming singer songwriter James Grundy. Friends, Family members, students, staff and pets are all invited to come along and enjoy an afternoon of music by the riverside. Snacks and drinks will be served and hopefully the sunshine will make an appearance too!
