Coronavirus Update – Please see the latest update from Eddie Falshaw, Deputy Head, regarding Coronavirus, sent to all parents and guardians yesterday, Tuesday 17th March. The School is continuing to closely monitor the guidance about Coronavirus from Public Health England. We are taking a proactive approach with regards to our own community and visitors to the School. Please also see the attached poster for generic advice from Public Health England. If families have any questions please email the Health Centre.

 

PSC Volunteer Vacancies - The PSC are seeking volunteer support on the committee for a Marketing Manager and Quiz Master/Researcher. If you are interested in finding out further information about these roles, or would like to express your interest, please email psc@leightonpark.com.

 

Co-Curricular Choices for Summer Term  The new programme of co-curricular options for the Summer term is available here. Booking Booking on SOCs for your son/daughter will open on Friday 20th March and close on Sunday 19th April. Instructions on signing up are available here. The co-curricular programme will begin on the first day of the Summer term, Tuesday 21st April. If you have any queries, please contact your child’s tutor.

 

Summer Sports Cricket Kit – In response to a number of recent enquiries regarding Summer term kit, please be advised that the cricket kit is not compulsory. All students are expected to have the white polo shirt for Sports in the Summer term. Keen cricketers who want to play at a higher level are encouraged to buy the kit, but matches are often played in the blue PE t-shirt and blue tracksuit bottoms (T20 style).

Thursday 19th March: House Music Postponed – Given the current Coronavirus situation it has been decided to postpone tomorrow’s House Music. We hope this will be moved to the Summer term. If you should have any queries, please contact Rosemary Scales, Director of Music.

 

Friday 20th March: EPQ and EE Expo Cancelled – Given the current Coronavirus situation it has been decided to cancel the EPQ and EE Expo, scheduled to take place on Friday 20th March. If you should have any queries, please contact Claire Gulliver, Head of Psychology.

 

Tuesday 24th March: Exam Stress Management Parent Workshop Cancelled - Given the current Coronavirus situation it has been decided to cancel the Exam Stress Management Parent Workshop, scheduled to take place on Tuesday 24th March. Friday 15th – Sunday 17th May: Netball Tour Cancelled – Given the current Coronavirus situation it has been decided to cancel the Netball Tour to Barton Hall PGL in South Devon from Friday 15th – Sunday 17th May. The parents/guardians of the students who have signed up for this trip will be contacted separately by Zoe Macpherson, Head of Netball. If you should have any queries, please contact Zoe Macpherson following her separate communication to you.

 

Monday 22nd – Thursday 25th June: Belgium Trip Cancelled – Given the current Coronavirus situation it has been decided to cancel the Year 7 trip to Belgium, scheduled to take place from Monday 22nd – Thursday 25th June. We have waited as long as possible to do this and delayed our communication around the trip because of the global developments. If you should have any queries, please contact Adrian Stewart, Head of Lower School.

Year 11

Academic Support Clinics – All Academic Clinics provided for Year 11 to support their GCSE studies are running during the week as planned. This weekend DT, ART and Engineering will be running as scheduled. The academic clinics for Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Combined Science will not be taking place. If you should have any queries, please contact Beverley Eldridge, Head of Year 10 and 11.

 

Thursday 26th March: Beliefs and Values Mock Exam - This is a reminder to all Year 11 students studying Beliefs and Values, that the second Mock paper will take place on Thursday 26th March. The examination will start at 8.30am and last for the duration of 80 minutes. It is mandatory that all students sit this examination remotely via Google Classroom. RSVP Monday 20th April: Work Experience Placement Form Deadline – Lower Sixth students are asked to complete and return the attached form to Sally Saunders, Head of Careers, by Monday 20th April in order for their chosen work experience placement to go ahead during the week commencing 22nd June 2020. The form will be used to collate information enabling outside providers to carry out risk assessments where necessary.

 

RSVP Saturday 25th April: IBDP Biology FieldtripWe are hoping that on Saturday 25th April there will be an opportunity for all International Baccalaureate Biologists in the Lower Sixth, to visit Warburg Nature Reserve in Oxfordshire. The viability of the trip depends on the developments around Coronavirus over the Easter break. Assuming the trip goes ahead it will cost £10. Please see the attached letter for more information and complete the online form by Friday 27th March if you would like your son/daughter to attend. Monday 11th – Friday 15th May: End of Year Examinations - All Lower Sixth students will sit internal examinations during the week commencing 11th May. These examinations will cover the work completed during this academic year and give useful practice for the final examinations during Summer 2021. Please see the attached letter for more information.
