Shiplake College - Weekly Bulletin

Dear Parents

Please see below this week's notices from the College.

Hair

Despite previous bulletin messages and conversations with a large number of pupils, we are becoming increasingly frustrated by some of the haircuts our pupils are having. Please support us in our attempts to have all pupils looking smart and to ensure that none have extreme haircuts. A number continue to have very well defined “steps”. In layman’s terms, no one should have closely shaved sides and floppy hair on top!

Here, once again, is the relevant section from our Uniform Guide.

Boys’ hair must be kept short (well off the shirt collar), clean and neat. Fringes must not fall across the eyes. Hair must not be shorter than a ‘number 3’ grade and extremes of fashion and colouring are unacceptable. Boys should be clean-shaven; sideburns should not be worn lower than the bottom of the earlobe. The Headmaster will authorise House staff to take pupils to a Barber/Hairdresser locally if these rules are not adhered to.

Please do not be surprised to hear from your child’s Housemaster/Mistress if they return after half term with anything deemed to contradict the guidelines above.

Mr Nick Brown
Deputy Head, Pastoral
