Adult Supervision Required
We seek to provide a wide-range of education, both inside and outside of the classroom. As such, our pupils attend a number of external educational visits each year which require adult supervision. If any parents are willing to act as adult supervisors on trips, which will always include Shiplake staff, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. This will enable us to continue to offer external development opportunities for our pupils whilst maintaining sufficient numbers of teaching staff in school to lead classroom lessons.

Co-Curricular Options - January 2017
Before the end of term pupils, with the help of their tutors, will be choosing their activities for the Spring Term. Thank you to the many parents who have already been in touch to sign their sons/daughters up for those activities that require an extra cost i.e. clay pigeon shooting, skiing, first aid etc. Please do take a moment to look through the choices on offer and encourage pupils to try something different and challenging. We still have vacancies for Year 12 and Year 13 pupils in the First Aid course – a very worthwhile qualification to add to a pupil’s CV!
A reminder we also will be offering LAMDA lessons on Saturday mornings from January. If you would like your son/daughter to join the pupils already signed up please let me know.
Mr Alex Hunt
Assistant Head, Co-curricular
Year 9 - First World War Battlefields Trip, 7-10 April
The History Department proposes to run a Battlefields Trip for Year 9 pupils at the start of the Easter holiday. We have run a very successful trip in October for a number of years to coincide with Year 9 studying The First World War. We are lucky enough to be able to call on the services of ex-Shiplake staff member, Jon Cooksey, an author and much respected battlefields guide. The trip takes in many aspects of the war and is centred on events in the Ypres and Somme areas. The cost of the trip (depending on numbers) will be in the region of £350.00.
A letter will be sent at the start of next term, although initial indications of interest can be sent to me at email@example.com. I realise that there is also a football tour planned for Easter and it is not our intention to detract from this.
Mr Nick Brown
