Headmaster on Good Morning Britain
There were many pupils, parents and staff glued to the television yesterday morning to watch the Headmaster go live on ITV’s Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid. Mr Davies was debating mobile phones and social media in schools and whether it is appropriate for teachers and pupils to be communicating via these platforms. We have been delighted with the positive reaction to our approach to the issue and you can read more about it and watch the feature again by clicking here.
Confirmation Service 2017
The College’s Confirmation Service will take place this year on Sunday 14 May at 11.00am in the Great Hall. Once again, this will be led by Bishop Colin, our Area Bishop.
When we confirm something we say “yes”. At Confirmation we say “yes” to Jesus and his call to follow him on our journey through life. We confirm our faith in him. Parents and Godparents will usually have said “yes” for us when we were babies and unable to speak for ourselves at Baptism, but Confirmation gives us a chance to say “yes” for ourselves. We all have some experience of getting lost. This can happen because we either have no map or an inadequate one. Confirming our faith in Jesus is like deciding to travel with a really accurate map through life. Once Confirmed, the students are able to receive the bread and wine at Holy Communion services. There will be some preparation sessions and these will take place on a Wednesday morning, prior to the first lesson of the day. These sessions are very relaxed and informal to help prepare the students to understand the process of Confirmation. This is an Anglican Confirmation but other denominations are very welcome to join us.
Please could you discuss this with your son or daughter to see if they are interested in being Confirmed. If you have any questions at all about Confirmation and what it means, please do get in contact with me either by email email@example.com or call me on 0118 9405258.
It is my intention to begin the preparation sessions in a few weeks’ time.

Year 10 - GCSE Sculpture Workshop
Thursday 27 April 2017
I am writing to inform you of the Art Workshop I have arranged with a visiting artist for Year 10. The artist, Darcy Turner, is based in London and designs, sculpts, invents and manufactures. One of the Assessment Objectives for GCSE Art is creative development of ideas and experiences. This workshop will enable pupils to gain practical experience in a new artist’s technique. Pupils will have the opportunity to collaborate within peer groups. They will be able to produce a sculpture and they will also have the opportunity to ask questions and observe an artist at work. There will be a fee of £20.00 per pupil to cover the cost of the day’s workshop and this will be added to your school bill. If you would like your son to take part in this workshop, can you please complete and return the attached form.
