Dear Parents

Please see below this week's notices from the College.

Saturday Arrangements

Please click here for this Saturday's arrangements.

Year 10 Parents’ Conference

The Year 10 Parents’ Conference is on Friday 10 March (Sports Hall, 3.30pm - 6.00pm). Following very successful trials, we are now using an online booking system in order to better manage the timing of our Parents’ Conferences. We kindly request that all Year 10 parents visit where 7-minute appointments with individual teachers can be booked and schedules created very easily. Full instructions can be viewed here and a video demonstration is available here. We respectfully ask that all parents make appointments in this way as it will no longer be possible to see teachers without an appointment. We do hope that you find this facility useful and please contact me should you encounter any problems.

Open Morning Saturday 18 March

A reminder that all pupils in Years 9 to 13 must attend the Open Morning on Saturday 18 March. Please note that buses will run one hour later than the published timetable and will by arriving at 9.00am. Day pupils are asked to register in House by 9.15am. Those not involved in the boarders’ all-in weekend can be collected at 12.15pm. Approval to be absent must be sought from the Headmaster using the Saturday absence form.

Boarders’ All-In Weekend

As advertised, all weekly and full boarders are expected to board on the evening of Friday 17 March. Sixth Form boarders (and Year 13 day pupils) will enjoy a curry and race night in the Great Hall whilst the boarders in Year 11 and below will go to Cosmo Restaurant in Reading. Flexi-boarders are welcome to stay if there are beds available. Following the Open Morning, all the boarders will take part in an afternoon of Dragon Boat Racing. The compulsory element of the weekend will finish at 4.30pm, but we hope that boarders will stay on to watch the 6 Nations Rugby in the Lecture Theatre and an evening trip (for example trampoline park or bowling) will be organised depending on numbers staying. Please can parents email their son's or daughter’s Housemaster to confirm whether or not they will be staying on the Saturday (and Sunday) by Friday 10 March. Following brunch on the Sunday there will be a Bubble Football tournament. Approval to be absent for the Friday night and/or Saturday afternoon must be sought from the Headmaster using the Saturday absence form.

Lent Project

We will repeat the same project as last year, which will be to collect Easter Eggs for the Salvation Army in Reading for distribution within their network and other agencies they work with. If you were a young person in a bedsit on your own, or a mother in the mother and baby unit in the YMCA, or a lonely pensioner, to be remembered with such a small gift as an Easter Egg could mean a lot to that person. Major Welsh of the Salvation Army will oversee the distribution of the eggs and I will deliver them with some senior students just prior to Easter. Therefore, I am hoping that each student will donate a medium-sized boxed Easter Egg to support this project. House staff have been asked to collect these eggs during the next few weeks of Lent. Thank you for your support.
