Friday 5th June: Tim’s Marathon Fundraiser – Head of Boys’ Games, Tim Green, will be taking on the Park this Friday, 5th June. He is raising money to help Whitley CDA support vulnerable families during this time, particularly those whose lives have been impacted by Covid-19. If you wish to find out more, donate, or send Tim a message of good luck, please visit his Go Fund Me page and read the news story.

 

Hosted by Jeremy Belas, Director of Sport and Andy Gallacher, Head of Rugby and Athletic Development, students, staff and their families are invited to virtually join Tim and co. for his first and last 5k on Friday; at 2.00pm to listen to the live chat and 6.00pm to support Tim and his cheerleaders, Jez and Andy, over the finish line. The Google Meet link will be shared with all students and staff via email at 1.30pm on the day of the event.

 

Tuesday 9th June: CAT 4 Testing – All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will be off normal timetable next Tuesday to sit their CAT4 Progress Tests in English, Maths (Year 7, 8 and 9) and Science (Year 8 and 9). A letter will soon follow with further details. Students should still attend tutor time at 10.30am as normal. Monday 22nd June: PSC Book Group - The PSC Book Group invite you to discuss ‘Everything I Never Told You’ by Celeste Ng, on Monday 22nd June from 7.30-8.45pm. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of whether they usually attend. The gathering will take place over Zoom, for which you can obtain the login details by contacting Fiona Francis and Nicole Fox at pscbookgroup@leightonpark.com.

 

LP Donate: To support those in need during the coronavirus pandemic, we are collecting donations for our partner organisations. The items urgently needed by 9.00pm, Monday 8th June, are kitchen items. If you should have any queries, please contact Natasha Coccia, Assistant Head: Co-Curricular and Outreach.

 

Thank you to all the families who kindly donated books and games for children via LP Donate to ABC to Read. If you might be interested in volunteering for ABC to Read or learning more about their efforts, please read our news story.

 

5K Run for Heroes – We had a fantastic and genuine whole school response to the Team LP 5K walk and run before the start of Long Leave! However you completed it, we hope you enjoyed getting outside with your families. Thank you to everyone who took part and donated through the fundraising page. Face Shields: Since the broadcast of Ross Kemp and Britain’s Volunteer Army, the initiative has now delivered over 34,000 face shields to people requiring this vital PPE; that’s the equivalent of one for every resident of Lower Earley!
