Mufti Day

On Friday 24 March (tomorrow) there will be a ‘Mufti Day’ to raise funds for Comic Relief. A suggested donation of £1.00 - £2.00 is advised to all students taking part. Red noses are encouraged!

Thames Water - Repairs

Thames Water will be attending the site tomorrow, Friday 24 March, to carry out an essential repair to a section of pipework on the mains water supply. We are expecting them to arrive at the College between 8.30am - 10.00am and they anticipate they will have completed the repair by 4.00pm. They will erect safety barriers and the appropriate road signs which will effectively make the main drive one-way for approximately 10 metres between the main road and the Welsh turning circle. Hopefully, their arrival and departure should have minimal impact on the drop-off and pick-up times for parents and the school bus services. However, to ease congestion, I would be grateful if parents and visitors could use the rear drive between 8.30am and 4.00pm. Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.

Estates Manager

Open Morning and All-In Weekend

Thank you to all the pupils involved in last Saturday’s Open Morning. We welcomed almost a record number of prospective families to the College and we have received some wonderful feedback about the tour guides and all the displays and activities going on around the site. Please make a note that the next open events are as follows:

  • Saturday 30 September: Sixth Form Open Morning (Year 12 and 13 pupils required)
  • Saturday 14 October: Whole School Open Morning (all pupils in Years 9 and above required)

On the back of a very successful all-in weekend for boarders, we will be running an ‘all-in’ night on Friday 13 October. This will be compulsory for all weekly and full boarders, ahead of the Open Morning the next day.

Director of Marketing and External Relations

Would you like to be a Shiplake College Year Rep?

The PA are looking for any parents who would like to be a Year Rep for their son or daughter's year group. The Year Reps would liaise with the PA and Marketing Department to promote social events and help parents get to know each other. This involves:

  • Periodically emailing out information about whole school social events
  • Arranging a couple of social get togethers each year, like a coffee morning or evening in a pub for their year group

It is easy and would be a minimal time commitment (attendance at PA Committee meetings not essential) but is something that would be appreciated by many parents.

If you are interested please email nickiohare@hotmail.co.uk to find out more.
