All Parents and Guardians

Treasure Island Merchandise If you would like to purchase a Treasure Island DVD (£15) or photobook (£25) as a memento of last term’s whole school production, please do so by clicking here. Orders should be placed before Friday 15th February 2019.

The Park Newsletter – The termly school magazine, The Park, is now available on our website if you would like to read about all of the interesting events and activities your son or daughter enjoyed during the autumn term.

Non-Participants in Dance Lessons – If your son or daughter is unable to participate practically in a Dance lesson please can you contact Beth Butler, Dance teacher, in advance of the lesson. Students that do not take part in practical parts of the lesson will be expected to complete theoretical work which supports the learning objective of the lesson.


 

Events and Reminders

Friday 11th January: PSC Fireworks Information - Thank you to all those parents and guardians who have booked tickets for this Friday’s PSC Fabulous Fireworks Event, starting at 6.30pm in Oakview. Amicus will be selling glowsticks and sweets and Team Dubai will be selling hot chocolate and hand warmers, please bring along some change if you wish to support them. Please see the attached document for the practical arrangements for the evening.

Monday 14th January: Film Club - The first Film Club of the term is next Monday, 14th January, with the classic sci-fi sequel, ‘The Empire Strikes Back’. Years 10 to Upper Sixth are welcome to attend in Fryer Cinema Room at 6.30pm. Please see the poster here.

RSVP Tuesday 15th January: PSC Committee Meeting – Parents, guardians and staff are invited to attend the next PSC Committee Meeting on Tuesday 15th January, 6.30-8.30pm, in the Cadbury Room. Please see the attached agenda for more information. If you would like to attend, please email psc@leightonpark.com.

Friday 18th January: Nearly New Shop – The nearly new shop will be open Friday 18th January, from 4.30-5.30pm, in Fryer House to coincide with the Fryer Parent Tea. If you would like to see the pricelist beforehand please refer to our website.

Monday 21st January: PSC Book Group Meeting – The next Parent and Staff Community (PSC) book group meeting is taking place on Monday 21st January. All parents, guardians and staff are welcome to attend. The meeting will commence at 7.00pm in the Library in Old School and this month’s book is ‘The Keeper of Lost Things’ by Ruth Hogan. Please see the website for future dates of meetings if you would be interested in coming along and contact psc@leightonpark.com if you have any queries.

RSVP Saturday 26th January: Leighton Park’s Family Quiz – Leighton Park’s Family Quiz hosted by our fabulous Parent and Staff Community (PSC) is taking place on Saturday 26th January. Tickets are £12 for adults and £8 for children and include a hot meal. This is a great opportunity to pit your wits against other families (and perhaps staff teams) - mixed age group teams are a distinct advantage! There will be a licensed bar and all proceeds from the event will go towards the development work planned for the Sixth Form Africa trips in 2020. Please see the poster here. RSVP Saturday 6th – Friday 12th April: Ski and Snowboarding Trip – The ski trip in April is now accepting intermediate to advanced level snowboarders. The trip to Flachau, Austria, which is due to take place between Saturday 6th-Friday 12th April next year is open to all year groups. If you think your child would like to attend, please read the attached letter, fill out the online form and note that the deposit of £250 is required by next Monday, 14th January. Year 7

Friday 18th January: Fryer Parent Tea – Parents and guardians are invited to the Fryer Parent Tea which will take place on Friday 18th January from 4.30-5.30pm in Fryer House. This is an informal gathering of parents across both year groups in Fryer House. Whilst staff will be there, it is primarily an opportunity for parents to meet each other. The PSC Nearly New Shop will also be open from 4.30-5.30pm.

RSVP Monday 24th - Thursday 27th June: Côte d'Opale Trip – Year 7 students have the opportunity to enjoy a four-day trip to France next summer, to learn about French language and culture in the beautiful setting of Côte d'Opale. Please see the attached letter from Adrian Stewart, Head of Lower School, and complete the online survey by next Wednesday, 16th January.


 

Year 8

Friday 18th January: Fryer Parent Tea – Parents and guardians are invited to the Fryer Parent Tea which will take place on Friday 18th January from 4.30-5.30pm in Fryer House. This is an informal gathering of parents across both year groups in Fryer House. Whilst staff will be there, it is primarily an opportunity for parents to meet each other. The PSC Nearly New Shop will also be open from 4.30-5.30pm.

RSVP Monday 24th - Friday 28th June: Wales Adventure Trip – Year 8 students have the opportunity to experience outdoor individual and team challenges on the Adventure Trip to Wales next summer. Please see the attached letter from Adrian Stewart, Head of Lower School, and if your child would like to go please complete the online survey by next Wednesday, 16th January.

Sunday 16th – Friday 21st June: Spanish Trip to Malaga – Year 10 Spanish students are invited to attend a language school in Malaga next summer and enjoy absorbing some of the local culture. Please see the attached letter for more information and complete the online form if you think your son or daughter would like to attend. Please read the attached letter for more information and note that appointments with your child’s teachers should be made via the Parent Portal. The online booking system is now open and will close at 2.00pm on Thursday, 24th January. Please note that Elaine King, Art teacher, is unable to attend the evening due to illness. Mark Wood, Head of Art, will be available to meet parents that wish to discuss their child’s progress in Art. If you wish to make an appointment with Mark, please contact Christine Banham on 0118 987 9544 after you have booked all your other appointments with your child’s teachers online and she will make a manual booking for you for the evening. Students are asked to collect a bookings card from their tutors to make appointments with their subject teachers directly.
