Long Leave: We wish students and their families a restful break in the coming week. The Guided Distance Learning Programme will return on Monday 1st June following Long Leave, on Week 2 of the fortnightly timetable.

 

LP with You Survey: Thank you to all our parents and guardians who recently completed the second survey on our Guided Distance Learning Programme and LP@Home offering, following the changes implemented at the start of the Summer Term. The Extended Leadership Team were pleased to receive such positive feedback and share their approach moving forward in a letter from Matthew, that you will have received on Tuesday 19th May.

 

Update to Boarding Arrangements: Parents and Guardians of boarding students received the attached letter regarding the measurements in place around our boarding reopening strategy, on Wednesday 20th May. If you should have any queries, please contact Myles Nash, Director of Boarding.

 

LP on Television!: We hope that you were yesterday able to enjoy Leighton Park’s feature in Ross Kemp’s documentary series, ‘Britain’s Volunteer Army’, on BBC One. The episode is now available to catch up on BBC iPlayer. The face shields initiative has now raised £28,000 and received requests for over 30,000 face shields.

 

LP Donate: To support those in need during the coronavirus pandemic, we are collecting donations for our partner organisations. The items urgently needed by 9.00pm, Monday 25th May, are outdoor play equipment. If you should have any queries, please contact Natasha Coccia, Assistant Head: Co-Curricular and Outreach.

 

National Book Tokens: £5,000 of National Book Tokens are up for grabs for one lucky school library, you can increase our chance of being picked from the draw by nominating Leighton Park.

 

Thursday 21st May: Whole Community 5K Run for Heroes – Today, period 5 and 6 lessons are suspended to enable you and your family to join us in support of the national Run for Heroes campaign. As a school community, we would love you to run and walk 5K with us from 2.20pm. If you would like to make an optional donation, please visit our Team LP fundraising page. We invite you to send photos and films of your family taking part to Jeremy Belas, Director of Sport. He will be collating the event digitally, as a celebration of Leighton Park’s commitment to fitness and charitable fundraising.

 

Friday 5th June: Tim’s Marathon Fundraiser – Head of Boys’ Games, Tim Green, is currently training to run a marathon around the Park on Friday 5th June. He is raising money to help Whitley CDA support vulnerable families during this time, particularly those whose lives have been impacted by Covid-19. If you wish to find out more, donate or send Tim a message of good luck, please visit his Go Fund Me page.

 

Monday 22nd June: PSC Book Group - The PSC Book Group invite you to discuss ‘Everything I Never Told You’ by Celeste Ng, on Monday 22nd June from 7.30-8.45pm. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of whether they usually attend. The gathering will take place over Zoom, for which you can obtain the login details by contacting Fiona Francis and Nicole Fox at pscbookgroup@leightonpark.com. They are also now compiling a long list of suggestions for the Book Group to read next academic year and welcome your suggestions. Please send these to the PSC Book Group by Friday 29th May.

Thursday 21st May: Whole Community 5K Run for Heroes – Today, periods 5 and 6 will be kept free for you and your family to join us in support of the national Run for Heroes campaign. As a school community, we would like you to run and walk 5K with us from 2.20pm. Headbands and House colours are encouraged; Fryers put on your most colourful clothes! If you would like to make a donation, please visit the Team LP page. Send photos and films of you and your family taking part on the day to Jez, who will be collating the event digitally as a celebration of Leighton Park’s commitment to fitness and charitable fundraising.
