Saturday Arrangements

Please click here for this Saturday's arrangements.

School Buses - Friday 26 May - Important

Please see important information regarding some of the school buses on Friday 26 May.

Half term starts at 3.30pm but unfortunately Horseman Coaches (Gerrards Cross, Maidenhead and Marlow/Bourne End bus routes) cannot pick pupils up until 5.30pm.

DJ Travel (Dorchester route only) cannot pick pupils up until 4.00pm.

In light of this, the following arrangements are in place:

  • 3.30pm - DJ Travel (Shinfield/Crosfields bus only) and Kingfisher Minibuses depart.
  • Parents of students on the Gerrards Cross, Maidenhead, Marlow/Bourne End and Dorchester buses may collect their children from 3.30pm if preferred.
  • Activities will be put on to occupy those pupils travelling on the Gerrards Cross, Maidenhead, Marlow/Bourne End and the Dorchester bus. There will be an opportunity to do some quiet work as well as play some sport.
  • 4.00pm - Dorchester bus departs.
  • 5.00pm - Drinks and snacks will be available.
  • 5.30pm - Horseman buses depart.

Have a good half term!

Deputy Head Pastoral

Reminder - Registering Lateness and Absence

Knowing our pupils’ whereabouts, particularly whether or not they are in College, is a fundamental element of our safeguarding responsibility. Morning registration takes place in house at 8.00am before Chapel, assembly, tutorials and morning lessons. If your child is going to be late or absent from school for any reason, please let us know before this time: either by email or telephone call. The main switchboard number is 0118 940 2455 and opens at 7.45am, but messages can be left on the answerphone, alternatively you can call matron in House. Full weekday and Saturday absences require the Headmaster’s approval using the Leave of Absence Form

If your child is expected in College but does not arrive for registration, we will try to contact you to establish where they are. In the event we cannot make contact, we will implement our Missing Pupils Procedures, which may result in us contacting the police if we are unable to confirm the whereabouts of any pupil not in school and we are concerned for their safety.

Morning registration closes in House at 8.20am. If your child arrives in College after this time, they must report to Reception to be signed in before commencing their timetabled activity. In addition, if they are leaving the College for any reason during the day, they must sign out (and back in as appropriate) via Reception.

Please note that real-time registration details are accessible to all teaching staff so they know who is in College and who should, therefore, be present for their lessons and activities.

Deputy Head Pastoral

Band of the Household Cavalry

On Tuesday 27 June, Shiplake College will be hosting the Queen’s own Band of the Household Cavalry. The purpose of their visit is to work with our more advanced (brass and woodwind) musicians through a series of morning rehearsals and sectionals, culminating in a 45-minute performance in the afternoon. Any parents or friends of the College who play brass or woodwind instruments, and are at Grade 6 standard or above, are warmly invited to take part in the day's music making as well! Repertoire will range from traditional military music to film themes and pop tunes. The day will start at 9.00am, with the performance taking place at 1.45pm.

If you would like to register your interest or require any further information please contact me at

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

Depending on interest, there is the possibility of offering the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification here at the College between 19 – 23 June, for our Year 13 pupils who have finished exams and looking at life beyond Shiplake.

The qualification would be valuable on CVs as well as enhancing the opportunity of getting work over the summer. Information about the qualification can be found here.

The cost is £250.00 per person. It would run for 5 full days (Monday to Friday 9.00am – 4.00pm split between pool and classroom).

If you would like your son/daughter to take part, or you have any questions, please let me know by 9.00am, Monday 22 May.
